Capsicum in peanut and sesame gravy .





Peppers come in many varieties and are an important part of many cuisines.Capsicum that belongs to the pepper family adds a nice crunch to any dish; be it a cheese grilled sandwich, pav bhaji or a sabzi. it will make its presence felt in any dish that you add it to.


I love Capsicum and i will be biased when i talk about it, i have posted another awesome recipe "Stuffed Capsicum"  do look at it once. Different from the usual potato stuffing, it is an onion and garlic free recipe. it is so full of flavour that anyone you serve it to will love it! 



Back to the capsicum in sesame and peanut gravy.  The sesame and peanut in this recipe is such a classic combination! Everyone and anyone will love this awesome taste... the gravy is different from the usual tomato and onion base! 


This post is about a gravy curry that goes well with roti or rice. I want to share a story of who shared this recipe with me. Mr. Suresh, with magic fingers is our family Chef, he is our rescue man for any function! he can cook for 5 people or 50 people with equal ease and awesome taste! What do you need to make Capsicum in peanut and sesame gravy!


  • Capsicum
  • Onion
  • Tomato Puree
  • Peanut powder
  • Sesame powder
  • Tomatoes
  • Salt
  • Chili powder
  • Tamarind 
  • Turmeric powder 
  • Ginger and Garlic paste 
  • Cashew nut paste 

How to make the Capsicum in peanut and sesame gravy?

Step 1: Add a little oil to a thick bottom pan and once it is hot add cumin seeds; When the cumin seeds start to splutter add ginger and garlic paste and fry till the raw smell is gone. Add curry leaves and then the cashew paste. 




Step 2: Add the capsicum , turmeric powder, salt and pureed tomatoes. Mix all this well and cook it for 3 to 4 minuets. 




Step 3: Add Peanut powder and sesame powder. mix these 2 well ensuring there are no lumps. 


Step 4: Add tamarind juice, it is advised to soak the Tamarind and then make a paste. Be mindful of the seeds while making the pulp. Mix well and cook for 5 to 8 minutes. Or till the capsicum softness. 




Step 5: Serve hot with some roti!
