Pav Bhaji







Before you read more about how to make it, let me tell you this,  Pav Bhaji is very simple and easy to make. Whatever is the reason you decided to make it, you are in the right place, at foodoyee we make the same dish in the easiest possible way. because i love to eat good food and i am a lazy cook. :) high five if you are like me! 



Except for the Pav Bhaji! only because the original recipe itself is like a shortcut! :) I can assure you that you will have clean plates and empty bowls at the end of it! 



Pav Bhaji is a literal translation of "Bread and Curry". 'Pav' meaning Bread and 
'Bhaji' meaning curry. The pav has been a poor man's food, many many variants of this bread recipes are extremely popular and because they are filling and affordable.

One other super popular dish from Mumbai is the Vada Pav and Pav Bhaji are my top favourite of the Roadside food from Mumbai. The special Garlic Powder that is served with the Vada Pav. The Bhaji  or curry we make for the Pav Bhaji uses most of the vegetables, i used whatever i had at home. While keeping a few like the Onions, tomatoes, potatoes, capsicum in, you can add other vegetables that you have at home. We will cook all the vegetables add the special spice powder and mash them. We then serve it with fluffy soft bread that we will lightly roast in butter!  


What do we need to make the Pav Bhaji?

  • Potatoes 
  • Tomatoes 
  • Onions 
  • Peas
  • Cauliflower 
  • Beans 
  • Capsicum 
  • Baby Corn  
  • Carrots
  • Ginger and garlic paste 
  • Butter
  • Cumin seeds 
  • Pav Bahji Masala 
  • Kasuri Methi 


How to make Pav Bhaji? 

Step 1: We will start with some butter in a pressure pan, add cumin seeds and once they start to splutter add the onions add some salt and fry for a bit. Add the chopped tomatoes. Add some Chili powder , pav bhaji masala and fry for a couple of minutes. 





Step 2: To the above mixture add the rest of the vegetables mix well pour some water and cook for 3 -4 whistles. 




Note: Check for the salt and spice level at this point and adjust accordingly. 


Step 3: Cut the buns , do not cut them fully; just slit then till the middle and roast them on a flat pan with some butter.





Step 4: Mash the cooked vegetables; Add some Kasuri Methi and some fresh cream (optional) and mix well. 





Step 5: Serve the roasted pav  bhaji and sit back and listen to the compliments.
