Karnataka's special Bisi Beli Bhaat from scratch

If you ever visited Bangalore you have heard the name "Bisi Beli Bhat" . Of all the one pot mixed rice item that the Bangaloreans make this is the most popular and loved.  I have tasted this at many many places in Bangalore and love this one version. This is our Visiting Cook Mr.Suresh's version. He is a Kannadiga but lives in Hyderabad and has some magic in his hand. Can cook for 4 or 40 with equal ease.

So Bisibheli Bhat is rice, lentils and vegetables of your choice cooked with a special masala powder. I will share it as well So you do not have to look elsewhere for the masala. The masala or the spice powder is the most important part of this dish and when freshly made the taste is really out of this world.

Bisibheli bhaat is not a one pot meal but it is a one meal dish. It is full of vegetables and the combination of rice and lentils makes it a filling meal.

What do you need to make Bisi Bheli Bhaat?
  • Rice
  • Tuar daal
  • Beans
  • Carrots
  • Capsicum
  • Groundnuts
  • Add all the vegetables you like.
  • Tamarind

For the Special Bisibheli Bhaat Masala:

The combination of these ingredients will give you the perfect masala, do not worry too much about the measures. Approximates will work too. Mr.Suresh (the cook) does everything so quickly and with no measuring cups, exactly opposite of how i am. As much as i hate measuring when i cook, i follow everything that is on a recipe.
