Sabudana Khichdi - Tapioca root Khichdi

Sabudana Khichadi is a very popular Maharashtrian dish.  Healthy and easy to make, the sabudana  khichadi is popular as fasting food in India. We have a lot of occasions when women and men fast for  a day or for a certain period of time and there are a few rules to these fasts. for example for awesome fasts you are allowed to eat only fruits; but during certain fasts you can eat this awesome sabudana khichadi the no onion , no garlic version.

Since i was making it for an evening snack we added some onions! :)

The important part of making this khichadi is the soaking of sago. In a bowl take the required amounts of sago and pour enough water , so that all of it is immersed in water and leave it overnight. By morning you will see that all the water is absorbed, if there is any water left just strain it off .

Sabudana khichadi is not complete without groundnut addition! This powder needs to be coarse, my cook made it a little too fine which is also OK. Take a hand full of groundnuts and dry roast them together with a dry red chilli or 2 dry chillies and grind them into a coarse powder; so coarse that you can see the groundnuts half broken.
