Crispy Semolina Toast loaded with healthy vegetables

What to make for Breakfast tomorrow?  Kal Tiffin mein kya banau? is probably the most common question on every cooks mind.  Among the most popular Idli, Dosa, Aloo paratha, bread and butter is the humble Sooji Toast / Rawa Toast. Super easy to make needs zero prep work and is healthy. What lese do you need to make this yummy toast??

I do not know who was the first person who tried this, i am not sure if this dish has a native city. I know one thing and i am sure about it, this sooji toast is very very popular across India. The health conscious people will love it too and they can  customize it as per their taste.

Sooji Toast is obviously an improvised version of the most popular 'Bread and Butter'. this is for someone who wants to have a quick and healthy breakfast but packed with flavours! Making of the toast takes slightly more time than the plain toast.

Choice of vegetables is the best part of making this dish,  you can use any and all vegitables for this. I am sharing my choice of vegetables, you can pick whatever is easily available at home. Just make sure to grate the vegitables. grating the veggies makes it easy while we toast; As the raw vegitables will be spread on the slice then toasted.

I suggest you use butter to toast or Ghee as an exception. I personally dn not like to use Oil.

What do we need to make the popular Sooji Toast?
  • Bread slices of your choice
  • Semolina or Sooji
  • Grated Carrots
  • Finely chopped Coriander
  • Finely chopped Onion
  • Finely chopped Tomatoes
  • 4-5 chopped mint leaves
  • Curd
  • Butter / Ghee to toast.
  • Salt
How to make the Sooji Toast?

Step 1: Let us make the Batter! This is what will make a difference , i don't add any spice powders to my Sooji Toast because i don't want it to taste  like i spread upma on my bread. Add all the vegitables, curd and salt mix this and let it rest for 10 minutes. make sure to add the curd little at a time to ensure the batter is thick and pasty. It should not be too flowing.

Step 2: Spread this batter on your slices, i cut my slices in to triangles, you can make a full slice too. Just ensure that you put the batter side face down first and then the other side.

That is it! serve it with a big glass of orange juice.
