Mysore Paak in less than 15 minutes,

Mysore pak is a very popular Indian Sweet dish. How the dish got its name is an interesting story, (read the full story on Wiki) During the rule of Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV, there was this cook named Kakasura Madappa, he made this dish out of sugar Syrup and gram flour, the outcome looked like gold bars, when asked the name of the dish. kakasura not knowing what to say said its "Mysore Paak" The king was so impressed that he asked Kakasura to open a shop outside the palace and sell it, so everyone could enjoy the dish. That is how it got the name! "Mysore" (the place) and "Paak" (sugar syrup). This time when i go to Mysore, i will look for this shop and click a picture!

It is a sweet that is filled with goodness of ghee and delicious aroma of gram flour. It all comes together in just about 10 min and needs just 3-4 minutes in a microwave! If you have a sudden guest coming for a meal, this can be a very interesting, tasty and quick option. The ingredients are very easily available in your kitchen , gram flour, ghee, Sugar and water.

What do we need to make the Mysore Paak?

  • 1 cup Gram flour / Besan
  • 1 cup Clarified Butter (Ghee )
  • 3/4 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2-3 spoons of milk

How to make Mysore Paak?

Step 1: Is to dry fry the Gram Flour (Besan). We do not need to roast the flour, just dry fry it till the raw smell goes away.

Step 2: Is to add the powdered sugar to the melted ghee and mix it well. Then slowly add the Gram Flour (besan) and mix it well, ensuring there are no lumps.

Step 3: Put this in the Microwave for 3-4 minutes. The sign to take it out is when you see bubbles or you see a white layer form on this.

Step 4:  Quickly Pour this onto a greased plate and let it rest for 4-5 minutes before you cut it into cubes. Let this rest for 15 - 20 minutes and take the Mysore Paak out and store in an airtight container.

Tip: you have to be quick in pouring it out as the mixture can harden and you will not be able to spread it out.
