Of course there are so many things that can comfort you when you are down with a cold but once you try this Garlic pepper rasam it will top your list, because Garlic and Pepper both have immense benefits.

Rasam is not only comforting when you drink it but also tasty. It is easy to make and will always be a show stealer! It is light Yet has flavours bursting out of each spoon! This special Garlic and pepper rasam will become a regular at your place too.

I used a homemade Rasam Powder (masala) for this yummy rasam, will share the recipe soon.  I have also made rasam using the MTR Rasam Powder but that is a slightly different recipe. Let us start making the Garlic and pepper Rasam.

What do you need for the Garlic and Pepper Rasam:

  • Rasam Powder
  • 5-6 Garlic pods crushed
  • Tamarind pulp / tamarind water.
  • Freshly ground pepper powder
  • tomato
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Ghee
  • Mustard seeds for tempering

How to make the Garlic and Pepper Rasam?

Step 1: Is to heat the pan and add the Tamarind pulp and the rasam powder and crushed garlic and chopped tomatoes and cook it for 1 to 2 minutes. If you feel the tomatoes are burning add little water, cover and cook.

Step 2: Add salt and water , leave it on low flame.

Step 3: The tempering, Tadka! heat a little ghee add the Mustard seeds and fry till they start to splutter! Add chopped garlic fry and pour this on the rasam.

I love this Garlic Tadka and it is an important part of the rasam. Although we have added garlic when we started off. This tadkewali Garlic gives it such an awesome flavor that you will love it!
