Dhokla with leftover Rawa Upma

In one of my previous posts i showed you how to make Bajjis/ dumplings with leftover Upma. For my health conscious friends i have an awesome alternate recipe. This is a easy and quick recipe.

What do you need to make Upma Dhokla?
  • Leftover Upma
  • Gram Flour (Chana daal / Senaga pindi; 1/2 of your Upma quantity)
  • Finely chopped gGeen Chilli
  • Finely chopped Coriander
  • Fruit Salt (1/2 tea spoon)
  • Curd  (Enough to mix the batter)
  • Salt
  • Water

How to make Upma Dhokla ?

Step 1: In a big bowl take the leftover Upma; To this add gram flour, curd, salt, fruit salt and mix well. Add water little by little and make a smooth batter. Let it rest for about 25-30 min.

Step 2: Spread this batter in a flat bowl evenly, this bowl needs to go into your pressure cooker. Put this in the pressure cooker. Do not put the whistle, do everything the same way you cook rice. Leave it for about 10-12 min. Remove the lid, poke a knife and check if the batter is cooked, if not put it back for another 5-8 min.

Step 3: remove the Dhokla cake from the cooker and turn it upside down on a flat plate. Cut it into cubes.

Step 4: Heat oil in a pan, add some mustard seeds, chopped green chillies, curry leaves and fry them well. Add your Dhokla cubes and fry. Garnish with some fresh coriander. That is it! yummy Upma Dhokla is ready!
