Crispy fried pakodas with leftover rice

I am back with another mouthwatering snack that is going to be a big hit at home with your family specially your kids. I tried these with steamed rice and they were absolutely delicious, you can try making these with leftover mixed rice as well.

Steamed rice is one of the most common leftovers at home; Instead of having it as another rice dish, try making these yummy "Crispy pakodas". The best part about this snack is it is super quick and easy to make, not much chopping of vegetables also.

What do you need to make Crispy fried Pakodas?
  • Leftover rice
  • Rice flour
  • Oats
  • Ajwain
  • Fenugreak seeds (saunf)
  • Finely chopped Green chilli
  • Finely chopped Onion
  • Finely chopped Coriander
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil for deep fry

How to make Crispy fried Pakodas /fitters with leftover rice?

Let me explain this to you in 3 simple steps!

Step 1 is getting the batter ready. Take the leftover rice add all ingredients except oil and water. Mix well, now add water (little by little) and bring to a thick fitter/ Pakoda consistency. You will need to put little extra effort to mash the rice and make sure all the ingredients bind well.

Step 2 is to heat enough oil in a pan and start dropping very small fitters of the batter into the oil. Small dumplings ensure they turn out crisp after they are fried.

Step 3 take the fitters out of the oil and serve them hot with a dip of your choice.
