Simple and Quick Idli Upma with leftover Idli

Idli is undoubtedly the most popular breakfast item in South India. Idli is made in batches and most times we are left with some. When you are left with Idlis, you can make Idli upma! trust me this dish is more tastier than Idli itself.

What do You need?

  • Left over Idlis
  • Oil
  • Green Chilies
  • Finely chopped onions
  • Curry leaves
  • Coriander
  • Lemon juice
  • Split black Gram
  • Split bengal Gram
  • Cumin Seeds

Whip your leftover Idlis and keep aside. Take oil in a pan add the cumin seeds and fry till they crackle; add the split Bengal gram and split Black gram (generous amounts), fry till they turn to a crunchy brown color, add curry leaves and green chilies and fry till the chilies get cooked; Add the onions and fry till translucent. That is it we are almost there !! To this nice smelling pan add the whipped Idli and mix well. Switch off the stove and add lemon juice. Garnish with lots coriander and serve .
