Deep fried bullets with leftover Poha / Atukula upma

Poha is a very popular Maharashtrian breakfast item. It is made with rice flakes flat / thick, full of vegetables  it is a complete and healthy dish to survive a busy morning or a lazy weekend. My bullets are made with leftover poha. You can make what ever shape you are comfortable with, i have made both flat shaped and bullets.

It's rainy season in India and it calls for new and different variety of tea time snacks. I have come back with yet another yummy and finger licking recipe. I call them Poha bullets or Deep fried bullets. This recipe qualifies for snacks under 10 minutes.

What you need?
  • Left over Poha/ Atukula upma
  • Rice flour for binding
  • Bread crumbs
  • Salt
  • Oil for deep fry

How to make Fried bullets?

Take your leftover poha in a bowl add some rice flour for binding and mash it well. (you can whip the poha with very little water to mash it quickly).

Make bullets of this mixture and coat your bullets with the bread crumbs and fry them till they turn golden brown. Serve them Hot with some green chutney or Garlic Tomato chutney
